There was some good news for the south of Westmeath this week with the news that the number of public order offences, assaults, and feud-related violence in the district were all down in 2012.

Dr John Connolly, secretary of the Irish Association of Suicidiology, officially launched a countywide wellbeing campaign on Monday. The campaign is being led by the Mayo Suicide Prevention Alliance, a group which first formed in Mayo in 2009. It is made up of a wide range of organisations and groups working in the area of mental health and suicide prevention in the county.

The Living Links Tri Fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the Blacksod Point Challenge Triathlon in Belmullet on September 22, and is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned national series race.
